It would seem only the Mixology Monday event is of critical enough importance to inspire me to update this blog. And here we are again, addressing this month’s theme: smoke. The parameters of submission are generously wide; just incorporate smoke into your concoction in some way. Literally, with a smoker, or use a smoky-tasting ingredient such as Islay Scotch or mezcal. I decided to offer up a drink that was inspired by my three-year-old son’s announcement that his favorite things to eat are “clock water” and smoke. He’s a profound mystic. I wanted to combine smoke and spiciness in a tequila drink and did so using mezcal and habanero shrub. I’m very pleased with the results. And here is a requisite link back to the Stir and Strain site.
